We are in the process of buying land for a School. It will be the first Secondary School in Kivumu. We are living in a very poor area and that is the reason why we are appealing to anyone who is able to help us in this wonderful project. To anyone who is willing to help us, we thank you in advance. Africa is an interesting continent, full of magic and mysterious people. Africa has its difficulties as well, but they are not as serious as Westerners like to think because the values there are different. These difficulties cannot be evaluated on the basis of money. Nor can success be measured only on the basis of money. There are many good things which cannot be bought. Money is not everything. If money was everything, the only difficulties people would have would be those connected with money.
In 26 years of living and working in our monastery Oswald Ngendahimana, or Oswaldi as we call him out of love, has welcomed and seen off 23 friars. The best way to describe him is to say that Oswaldi is the sole fixed point of Kivumu; he is our Guardian Spirit! And considering the things that he has been through in 46 years of his life, I would add that this man’s life deserves to be put on screen...
Many times in our life we try to do big things in a big way, but, really, the big things happen from the hearts of the people. To accomplish anything meaningful, we need support from others in order to succeed. This means we need each other. In Kivumu, we are living in an area which is over populated.
With all the students leaving primary school and not being able to afford secondary education it is obvious to both the Government of Rwanda and to the Church that more secondary schools are needed in the country. We intend to build a private secondary school in Kivumu parish as there is none to date.
